Description

We are offering semen from three different Murray Grey bulls, BB Uncle Tony, Olympia's Pelion, and Thurloo Park Winchester. All three of these bulls would be ideal candidates for any grass-finishing program.

BB Uncle Tony is our primary herd sire here at the Backbone Ranch. Born in 2012, "Tony" has proven to be an exceptional range bull with an outstanding temperament and has remarkable prepotency. Tony is siring our best calves to date, stamping each one of his calves with quality. His birth weight was 86 lbs, and his weaning weight was 682 lbs. Tony scored a 10 out of 10 for tenderness and an 8 out of 10 for marbling when tested with Igenity. His tenderness score alone puts him in the top 4% of all cattle in the United States for that trait. His semen is priced at $25 per straw and is currently being used in herds in both the US and Mexico.

Olympia's Pelion is a smaller framed Murray Grey bull from the 1970s. He was the Grand Champion Bull at the 1978 Denver National. His calves have averaged 60 lbs at birth. Olympia's Pelion scored a perfect 10 out of 10 for tenderness and a 7 out of 10 for marbling. His weight as a 2 year old was 1,400 lbs. His semen is priced at $20 per straw.

Thurloo Park Winchester is a Murray Grey bull that was a direct import from Australia. Like Olympia's Pelion, his calves average in the 60 lb realm at birth, but grow into really deep bodied individuals. Winchester scored also scored 10 out of 10 for tenderness and 7 out of 10 for marbling when tested with Igenity. He is pictured as a 7 year old, weighing in at 1,700 lbs. His semen is $20 per straw.
